A pictorial history of Richie Bland's quest to achieve a life long dream.

The Archery Super Slam is considered by many to be the rarest of hunting achievements. The ethical, fair chase pursuit and harvest of North America's 29 species, in accordance with the hunting rules set down by Pope and Young constitutes the Super Slam. The pinnacle of bowhunting has been accomplished by less than 10 hunters. The common denominator of this elite group is gritty determination and endurance under the most difficult physical conditions, unrelenting pursuit of phyical conditioning, inexhaustible patience and perseverance, and proficiency with a bow at the moment of truth.

When I started down this path 12 years ago, little did I realize the sacrifices that would be required of me and of those around me. To quote the few that have preceded me, this goal requires an enormous drain on time and financial resources. For me to selfishly complete this lifelong ambition, I have to apologize too those closest to me. Thanks to all of those that have helped me amass enough cherished memories to last many, many years.

Richie Bland
